Product integrity

We will work with our suppliers to maintain excellent standards of product quality and safety. We expect our vendors, contractors and agents to adhere to our Code of Conduct and to adopt similar standards.

How does “Product Integrity” underpin our strategy?

At Wolseley UK, product integrity means ensuring that we source and supply safe products that are of suitable quality as efficiently as possible. In doing so we improve the efficiency of our processes, aim to improve our margins, avoid liability arising from defective products and maintain or grow market share through enhanced customer satisfaction and confidence.

What does “Product Integrity” entail?

Product integrity includes:

  • ensuring that our products are reliable and robust, and safe when used for their intended purpose; and
  • understanding our business partners, the quality of their systems and how they conduct their business and provide their services; and
  • ensuring compliance with legal standards.

Ethical sourcing policy

Wolseley UK is committed to the highest possible standards of integrity and ethical sourcing. We recognise our responsibility to ensure that our suppliers are also engaged in responsible and ethical practices.

In order to achieve this we commit to:

  • understanding our third party supply chains, including in relation to workplace health and safety,
  • environmental, labour and human rights issues
  • expecting responsible and ethical behaviour from our suppliers, as well as quality and value
  • respecting suppliers' confidential information and running fair contract selection processes
  • making payments to suppliers in accordance with our practices or obligations
  • assessing our suppliers' practices against the standards set out in this Policy

Where a supplier's practices do not meet our required standards, we will:

  • review our assessment with the supplier
  • advise and help the supplier to make improvements in their practices
  • withdraw from the supplier contract where a commitment to improve has not been demonstrated

The standards that we expect from our suppliers are:

  • compliance with all relevant legislation, including in relation to:
  • employees, their welfare, safety and the working environment
  • the protection of the environment, prevention of pollution and the use of natural resources
  • no use of child labour in the production or supply of their products
  • no use of forced, bonded or involuntary labour in the production or supply of their products
  • that they have systems to trace the source of their raw materials and measure the compliance of their own suppliers
  • that they do not engage in bribery or corruption
  • that they have systems to measure compliance with their own commitments and be able to verify performance against our standards

This policy shall be reviewed regularly.

In addition to operating in line with our ethical sourcing policy, we are also proud to have achieved a number of industry recognised accreditations.
